Yamaha has a rich heritage of building supersport motorcycles designed to deliver the pinnacle of performance on and off the track. Based on the legendary YZF-R1, the R1M goes a step above: standard features include premium Öhlins Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS), a standard Communication Control Unit (CCU) for data and lap time acquisition with your smartphone, MotoGP-derived electronics and carbon fibre bodywork with new MotoGP inspired winglets. From crossplane crankshaft engines to revolutionary electronics such as the six-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), Yamaha's historical achievements have become the future of R World.
MOTOGP® INSPIRED WINGLETSDeveloped through extensive simulator and on-track testing, new MotoGP®-inspired carbon fiber winglets create additional downforce for exceptional chassis stability and added front-end feel when braking or cornering. |
SUSPENSIONÖhlins Electronic Racing Suspension (ERS) is a key feature of the R1M chassis. The NPX pressurized front fork includes a gas cylinder built into the front fork axle bracket. Rear shock settings complement the performance of the front fork. A dedicated Suspension Control Unit rapidly adjusts the front and rear damping in real time whether braking, cornering, or accelerating. ERS provides streamlined dynamic tuning modes for both street and track, as well as manual modes for conventional suspension tuning with fixed damping. |
MOTOGP® DERIVED CROSSPLANE CRANKSHAFT ENGINEThe YZF-R1's 998cc inline-four-cylinder engine features Yamaha's exclusive crossplane crankshaft technology derived from the YZR-M1 MotoGP® race bike. By equalizing inertial forces at the crankshaft, the CP4 motor delivers a direct feeling of linear torque, giving the rider the ultimate connection between throttle grip and the rear wheel. |
